What we train

Programs

Six ways in. Every class is coached, and every class takes beginners.

01

Boxing

Footwork, defense and punching mechanics. Bags, mitts and ring work at whatever pace you walk in at.

02

MMA

Striking and grappling in one program — pads, wrestling, and how the two fit together.

03

Jiu-Jitsu

Positional control, escapes and submissions. Tap early, learn faster.

04

Wrestling

Takedowns, pressure and control — the base Bobby built his own career on.

05

Youth MMA

Mon–Fri · 4:00–5:30 PM

Structure and a place to put energy after school. Every kid gets coached; no experience needed.

06

Fitness

Conditioning built on fight training, for members with no interest in competing.

One-on-one lessons are available for first-timers, fast learners and fight prep — call to set one up.

After school, on the mats

Boxing, wrestling and self-defense, Monday through Friday. The club was named by the kids in it. It is not a babysitting program — they train.

Ventura City Council recognized the gym as a social hub for the Westside. Parents describe Bobby as patient. Kids say they feel safe and pushed.

Grew up on the Avenue (mobile home park by the Pepsi plant). Boys & Girls Club wrestling, then Ventura High — one of the strongest VHS wrestlers in years, as high as second in the state.

Nine pro MMA fights across California and Oregon. Started this gym in a Fix Way storage unit with a speed bag outside so people could see the work. Now at 407 N Ventura Ave.

Path wasn’t clean: prison after a 2010 arrest, then a personal-training cert and a return to coaching. Cops train next to felons here. Kids who slip still write from juvenile hall. He answers.

Questions

Do I need experience to start?

No. The gym trains all levels, and the Saturday 11 AM intro class is built for first-timers. Show up, and a coach walks you through the rest.

Do you have classes for kids?

Yes — youth MMA runs Monday through Friday, 4:00 to 5:30 PM. It's the heart of the gym: discipline, confidence and a positive outlet after school.

How much does it cost?

Training here is kept accessible. Call (805) 207-6739 or DM @vtafightfitness for current membership and youth rates.

What should I bring to my first class?

Athletic clothes and water. Bring gloves and wraps if you have them — if not, the coaches will point you to what you need.

Do you offer private lessons?

Yes. One-on-one coaching is available for beginners, fighters in camp, and anyone who wants to level up faster. Call to book.
